The Hungarian coalition on community energy
The aim of the Hungarian coalition is 1. To increase public pressure via joint advocacy outreach towards a more favourable legislative and financial environment for community energy in Hungary 2. To ensure the mobilization of 10,000 people for new community energy projects and co-operatives in Hungary by 2016 spring.
Our coalition partners regularly contributed to NSC’s lobbywork to improve the financial and legal environment of community energy projects in Hungary.

Coalition for revival of renewable energy support in the Czech Republic
Czech NGOs Hnutí DUHA, Frank Bold and Calla together with Chamber RES (head organization of renewable energy associations) and its members (CAFT – photovoltaic guild, ČSVE – Czech Wind Energy Association, CZ Biom – Czech Biomass Association) coordinate their lobbying and media activities with aim to establish efficient support scheme for new renewable energy sources in the Czech Republic.
After unsuccessful effort to change governmental proposal of law which stopped support for new renewable energy sources in 2013, coalition achieved partial success in 2014. Another proposal from Ministry of Industry and Trade which included factual obstacle for connection of decentralized sources into the distribution grid was changed during legislation process.
Informal coalition will integrate other allies like mayors or housing associations representatives with the aim to push particular change of legislation implemented special support scheme for renewable energy sources owned by municipalities and communities of flat owners.

Community Energy Ireland
In 2014 a group of practitioners, consultants, researchers, community workers and NGOs in Ireland who are actively working on community energy, energy efficiency, renewable energy policy and community engagement came together to develop a vision for community energy in Ireland. The group collaborated to produce a policy position paper on Community Energy and engaged in the development of a new energy policy for Ireland. Community energy in Ireland is an emerging area and requires continued collaboration on policy development, networking, lesson sharing and knowledge transfer if an enabling environment for community ownership is to emerge.

Scottish Community Energy Coalition SCEC
The Scottish Community Energy Coalition is part of a wider UK coalition that was set up by Forum for the Future in 2012. Much of the energy legislation is currently reserved, which means decisions regarding this are made in Westminster rather than in Holyrood. Therefore, it makes sense for us to be part of a wider coalition that can influence the UK government whilst working in a Scottish group that can focus on devolved powers such as planning law. Our Vision for 2020 has been adapted from the UK Community Energy Coalition.
